From broken clips to a softer way.
It started, like many things do, with a conversation between two best friends.
We were sitting at the edge of a long day. Hair pulled back, clips hanging on, barely. We noticed how often our hair accessories broke. How the little teeth on our clips would snap off. How the rekkers we used left creases, tension, even headaches. And how, time after time, we found ourselves buying replacements. Cheap plastic, worn-out elastics, things that didn’t last.
Worse, our hair felt the impact. Damaged ends, weakened roots, friction we couldn’t undo.
We began to ask: what if there was a better way? What if accessories could be gentle, not just on our hair, but on the planet too?
That simple question led to Pearls Studios.
We wanted to create hair essentials that lasted. Made from sustainable, durable materials. Pieces that felt good to wear, and even better to keep. No more breakage. No more slipping. No more unnecessary waste.
In place of plastic, we chose cellulose acetate, a biodegradable material known for its strength and soft, polished feel. For our scrunchies, we turned to pure mulberry silk: smooth, breathable, and kind to the hair. Every shape, shade, and silhouette was designed with care. Tested on our own hair, refined until it held just right.
We didn’t want to follow trends. We wanted to solve a need.
Today, Pearls is our answer to the little frustrations we lived with for years. And our way of offering something more lasting. Functional, beautiful, and slow by nature.
From our hands to yours, with care.
With love,
Chelsy & Chloé
